Behind the scenes
How we edit a wedding gallery
When the wedding ends, the second half of the work begins. A wedding produces a great many frames, and turning them into a gallery you’ll want to return to takes care and time. This is what happens between your wedding day and the day your photographs arrive.
Choosing the photographs
The first step is selection. Every frame is looked at, and the ones that tell the story best are kept: the clearest expression, the sharpest moment, the frame where everything came together. Blinks, repeats and near-misses are set aside, so that what remains is the day at its best.
Colour and light
Each chosen photograph is then adjusted for exposure, colour and contrast. A wedding moves through very different light, from a dressing room to a garden to a hall at night, and editing brings those scenes together so the gallery feels like one day and skin tones stay natural throughout.
Retouching, lightly
Retouching is for small distractions: a stray hair, a mark on a wall, a sign in the background. It is not for changing how you look. The best wedding photographs still look like the people in them.
Putting it in order
Finally the photographs are arranged so the gallery reads like the day itself, from getting ready to the last goodbye. The same care goes into choosing the images for an album, where every page has to earn its place.
Why it takes time
Good editing can’t be rushed, and a gallery that is delivered a little later but finished properly is one you will be glad of for decades. If you’d like to know when to expect yours, ask us when you book.
